Join us for the legendary Arc 100M
Arc 100M is a unique point-to-point race along the most exposed and dramatic sections of the South West Coast Path. From Coverack to Perranporth, runners will experience the stunning and rugged 'arc' of Cornwall, taking in remote headlands, relentless climbs and spectacular Atlantic views.
Renowned as one of the UK's toughest winter ultras, Arc 100M is a true test of endurance, resilience and determination. The route showcases the very best of Cornwall's coastline while challenging runners with technical terrain, unpredictable winter weather and over 100 miles of relentless coastal trail.
With long stretches of coastline between aid stations, runners must be prepared to be self-sufficient for extended periods and capable of managing the demands of winter trail running in a remote coastal environment.
Arc 100M runners will complete a point to point 100 mile course entirely along the South West Coast Path, a National Trail and one of England's longest marked footpaths.
Runners will start at Coverack and finish at Perranporth Airfield.
Particular care needs to be taken at the following points to ensure you follow the official coast path:
- Kynance Cove
- Cape Cornwall
- Botallack
- Zennor Head
- Hayle
- Mexico Towans
- Dunes of Doom
- Godrevy Head
For a full list of the mandatory kit (clothing and equipment) which you must have with you at all times during your race, please visit the mandatory kit webpage.
Aid stations are available at strategic locations and regular intervals along the course. These provide basic food and drink options to runners, warm shelter and toilet facilities.
Larger aid stations will be well stocked with hot food options, hot drinks and a selection of other snacks including cold drinks, water, cola and Näak Energy products.
The Arc of Attrition by UTMB is a semi-autonomous / self-sufficient event with aid stations and medical cover at strategic locations on the course. However, due to the extent of the course and the time of year, we strongly advise you to have your own support crew. Your support crew will be able to provide you with assistance at designated locations.
We recommend your crew have their own transport and are contactable by mobile phone during the weekend. We will ask you for their contact details when you register.
Your support crew would be useful to pick you up in case of drop out or injury. We also strongly advise you to have a supporter to drive you home after the event. Due to the fatigue of completing Arc of Attrition by UTMB, runners should not attempt to drive themselves home.
Arc 100M runners will receive a 1 x 30 litre UTMB World Series drop-bag when collecting their race bib at the main event venue.
Drop-bags should be taken to the Bag Drop marquee before you take your coach transport to the race start. The bags are then taken to the Land's End Aid Station.
Drop-bags should be collected after your race at the main event venue upon presentation of the runner's race bib. The Bag Drop marquee remains open until the end of the event.
Only UTMB World Series drop-bags can be used. Poles are not allowed in the drop-bag.
The race follows the South West Coast Path, an existing National Trail. There will be additional waymarking along the route to assist with navigation. However, the route follows undulating cliff paths and cliff edges, and the terrain can be difficult, steep and arduous in places. Therefore, we recommend that this race is only suitable for runners with previous ultra-distance experience.
Large sections of this race will be undertaken in darkness. We recommend you have experience of night time running before the event and include this in your training.
It is recommend participants have a UTMB® Index of at least 380. With a UTMB® Index below this value, it is very likely the runner will not be able to arrive at the checkpoints on time as they will not be able to comply with the established cut-off times.
